I Love Roy Keane

Roy Keane, is the motivation and support for Manchester United FC’s achievements for nine long years. Starting off from simple middle class family and moving on to play the world cup finale, this  Irish Footballer was one of the sturdiest and strongest competitor for all his opponents.  As a persistent and belligerent midfield footballer, Keane has typified the wins of Manchester United on the field. Hit hot temperament has often created issues with the referees, team managers and even the Football association. HE has faced a hell number of issues off the field as well (in his personal life).

Born on 10th August 1971, Keane has had a eighteen year playing career, where he had played for Cobh Ramblers (Ireland League), Notttingham Forest and for Manchester United. He signed off from his career at Celtic, Scotland.

Popularly known as one of the greatest players ever who has played the Premier League, Keane is still known as one of the best commanding central midfielder. He was famous for his insistent and competitive attitude towards the game. These qualities aided him to shine as one of the best captains’ which Ireland has ever had. He departed from the game of cricket in the year 2005, with almost 12 years of game play career in clubs.

Most of his career was spend playing international football where he had represented his country Ireland for a span of fourteen years, most of which was spent captaining his team. In the 1994 FIFA world cup he had played each and every game for his country, though he was sent back home from the 2002 world cup game due to some issue which he had with the then national coach.

When he took over the charges as the manager of Sunderland, he raised the position of the club from the 23rd to that of the champions (Football League Championship). His presence was a welcome note for the club, which even obtained the promotion for the Premier League. Keane’s tenure with Sunderland helped the club from getting demoted due to its poor performance. Keane was appointed as the manager of Ipswich Town in the year 2009, but was terminated from his services in the year 2011 when the club performed poorly in the 19th League championship.

Born to a middle class working family in Cork, the suburbs of Mayfield, he had a sober childhood.  His father Maurice was a errand man and did jobs in knitwear companies, Murphy’s breweries, etc. His family had great interest in the game of football. Most of his relatives played for junior football clubs. Keane stated off with boxing at the small age of nine and underwent trainings for long years. He had won all the four sessions in the trainee leagues. He gradually took to that game of football, where he developed as one of the most promising footballers.  His abilities as a great footballer was realized when he was nominated for the ‘player of the year’ in the first session itself.
